Sure you can say that people choose the work that will provide them with good salary, but not the work they adore. And you are right; it is so in most cases. But it doesn't mean that a work a man chooses can't be an indication of his character. Actually, the fact that people prefer good salary for interesting job is also an indication of the character. Though, it is not an indication of a character of single taken person but the indication of general character typical for most of people. Nowadays, people are crazy for money and there are no other values foe them. It is a rather dull fact and it is hard to realise it but it is so.
So, if you man always complain about his boring job he hates, there is only one conclusion can be drawn from this fact – your man is a man of weak character and the only thing he cares about in this life is money. This man is ready to neglect everything and to sacrifice everything for the sake of money. There is no guaranty that some day he won't sacrifice you for the sake of money. Think about, do you need such man? A man who prefers to sacrifice his interests to money will easily sacrifice everything and everyone for the sake of money.
On the other hand he is a man who is not ale to fight for what he wants. Say, a man wants to have an interesting job with a good salary, though it is hard to find such (???) job. A man of a character will keep looking for such job but a man of weak character will refuse from his dream and receive the first job with good salary. And that is the behaviour that will characterise his whole life. He will never do his best in order to receive what he wants and will always except the tiny part of his huge dream. It is possible that you also are not a woman he was thirsty for but a woman he managed to charm.
In case if a man is fond of his job you have a chance to find out more about him and his character according to the job he has. Say, your man is a doctor. Be sure, that it is a sympathetic man, an idealist who wants to make this world better, a man who is sure that the most precious thing in this life is a life. He will never remain cold for one's sufferings and will never let down the one he cares about. Moreover, a doctor is a good chance to spare your money for medicine.
There are men who prefer travelling job. It is not big deal if he never travels abroad, abroad the city or country. It is also not a big deal if he travels to other cities and towns, but it is a big deal if specific character of his job assumes travelling abroad. This work is common for people who always get tired of routine and standard way of life. These are the people who always thirsty for new experience and new emotions. They will never be happy living at the same place for a long time. To love this man you will have to get used to loneliness or to learn love travelling as much as he loves it.
